Ways To Volunteer
Annual Fund Drive
Volunteers work closely with the Director of Development to raise tax-deductible funds to support the operating budget of the school. Committee Co-chairs coordinate publicity.
Fall Golf Classic
Volunteers work on a variety of committees associated with the tournament (publicity, prizes, program, registration, and special assignments).
Gala/Auction and Dinner—March 5, 2011
Volunteers work closely with the Director of Development. Teams include Auction Donations, Decorations, Publicity, Class Projects, Correspondence, Catalog Preparation, Raffle, Packaging, Transportation and Set-Up, Registration, Close Out, Check Out, Tear Down. Every family is expected to contribute or solicit auction items. Whatever your talent, this team needs you! This team affords a wonderful opportunity to get to know other parents.
Dads’ Spring Cook-Out
Volunteers plan, coordinate, purchase food, arrange for grills, and promote Fairhill’s annual spring hamburger/hot dog cookout held in conjunction with our Earth Day activities.
Graduation Reception
Junior mothers help with decorating, serving and clean-up for the reception following the graduation ceremony in May.
Room Parent Representatives
Parent Representatives are communication links for homeroom classes. They form a phone tree from the Parent Council Board to other class parents to promote attendance at school functions, promote Annual Fund, Golf Tournament and Gala participation, coordinate a class project for the Spring Auction, and work with homeroom teachers to coordinate refreshments for class parties.
Hospitality
Volunteers coordinate refreshments for the Back to School Coffee, monthly teacher treats, Dads’ Day, Moms’ Day, Grandparents’ Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, etc. Volunteers provide refreshments and/or set-up. If you like to bake, make snacks or plan teacher treat themes, this team is for you!
Lunch Committee
Volunteers coordinate the catered Lunch Program which is served daily by parents. This is a commitment of approximately 40 minutes from 11:30 – 12:10 any day of the week. Every parent whose child participates in the Lunch Program should make a real effort to help serve lunches. Co-chairs coordinate volunteer schedules, menu distribution and collection.
Library Volunteers
Volunteers shelve books, help with check out, promote Book Fair, promote new and special interest books/departments, etc., and help in the “school store” for the Accelerated Reading Incentives Program.
Art Room Assistants
Volunteers assist Ms. Finnell in the Visual Arts Department in mat cutting, driving on field trips, coordinating programs, art shows, etc. for the school.
Performing Arts Assistants
Volunteers assist Ms. Kington in the Performing Arts Department with set building, lighting, sound, mending costumes, desktop publishing, make-up and wardrobing for dress rehearsals and performances, rehearsal snacks, prop location, etc. If your child participates in drama productions, you are a member of this committee!
Clerical Help
Volunteers will be called to assist with Parent Council and school mailings and copying.
Senior Memory Book
Senior parents design a memory book to be given to the seniors at the graduation reception.
Exam Readers
Volunteers read semester exams to students who qualify for this accommodation.

Job Shadowing
Job Shadowing is an academically motivating activity designed to give high school juniors and seniors the unique opportunity of a close-up look at the world of work. The program invites students to see firsthand how skills learned in school relate to the workplace. Job Shadow is led by the National Job Shadow Coalition. Contact Melinda Cameron
Athletic Booster Club
The Athletic Booster Club supports student athletes, coaches and the athletic department by facilitating communication to parents. Parents of athletes are scheduled to work in the Fairhill Falcon concession stand.
