Fairhill supports many music programs including band and choir.
The Fairhill Singers – Grades 6-12
The Fairhill singers explore ensemble singing, listening skills, reading basic music, and following a conductor for expression and style. Dynamics, different musical venues and vocal basics are emphasized. The singers have the opportunity to perform for concerts and competitions.
Fairhill Percussion Ensemble – Grades 6-12
The percussion ensemble performs music to incorporate various playing levels and allow exposure to a variety of percussion instruments. Instruments include: drums (snare, bass, tenor, and timbale), cymbals (suspended, crash, and finger), melodic (glockenspiels) as well as wind chimes, bell tree, cabasa, triangle, tambourine, cowbell, ratchet, wood block, claves, maracas, guiro, vibraslap, brake drum, jingle bells, etc. Dynamics, ensemble playing, following a conductor, rhythmic patterns, counting and musicality are emphasized. The ensemble has the opportunity to perform for concerts and competitions.
Fairhill Band
Fairhill School offers a comprehensive band program that ranges from beginner band through advanced high school band. Students in grades 4-12 are eligible to join band. The Beginner Band focuses on the basics of instrumental music and Concert Band is for students with at least one year of band experience. Instruction focuses on theory and quality of playing an instrument. The High School Band is for students in grades 8-12. The advanced music ensemble is the premiere instrumental performance group at Fairhill. Advanced instruction on theory, jazz, improvisation, tone quality and advanced performance techniques are the focus of the High School Band. Students receive fine arts credit for High School Band.
Fairhill Bands are also part of the Music Learning Band Program. This partnership allows Fairhill Band members unique and advanced performance opportunities in addition to the classes at Fairhill. More information is available at www.musiclearningband.com.
