The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society that was organized in 1953 and now boasts over 2,000 national and international chapters. It is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The Hernando de Soto Chapter of SHH at Fairhill School was chartered in 2008. The purpose of the society is to recognize the high achievement and dedication of students in the Spanish language and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic studies. The society is open to Spanish III and IV students who have maintained an A average throughout each semester of Spanish I and II.
